Why need we, who are generally amateurs, to rate performers singing at such high level as if it were a track meet with first, second, etc. Preferences, certainly, express them politely, but a finish line? Probably unwise on our part.

I love so many singers in this. While Diana Damrau is my favorite, Dessay comes in a damn close second.For those of you criticizing her voice in this role (or veiny neck or slow tempo), you do realize that she was pregnant during this performance, right? Pretty amazing considering space is occupied inside of her... |
