Bernie can suck an egg. He always hated Indycar/CART/Champ Car and I know he hated it when former CART driver came in and won F1 races and championships. I do agree with Bernie though that American open wheel and F1 are two different fruits.

Bernie Ecclestone at 0:33: "we don't want the same tyres, cars and engines."How ironic. Formula 1 has developed itself into the same direction as Indycars did. The same tyres, the same electronics, almost the same engines, the same strategies, almost the same aerodynamics.

Bwahhhhh. "I know Nigel's not having fun over there" What a crock. Nigel was quoted as saying it was some of the most enjoyable racing he'd ever done. Indycars in 93 was SO much better racing than F1

I blame Mosley for for all this over spec-ing that has happened in F1. Cars had active suspensions, slicks, 4 wheels steering, V10 and V12s beside V8s. Now we have passive suspensions, grooves and drive restricted SECU-ed V8s.This isn't progress.

But I like his comment about the F1-Indy showdown, with a $5M purse. That would've been HUGE back then. Too bad Indy is a shadow of what it once was.

"We don't all want the same cars, the same tyres, the same engines, then when someone gets a big lead, they put a car out there to close them all up, that isn't racing."15 years later, we have the same restrictive aero regs (with lots of winglets as workarounds), the same Bridgestone control tyres, the same rev-limited engines, then when someone gets a big lead, a safety car usually comes out.Hmmm. Lots of consistency there, eh? Hee. |
