http://www.CADjunky.comDWGedit... utilizes relative and absolute coordinates to define geometry. An absolute coordinate represents the actual point in space such as 4,0 where x=4 and y=0. A relative coordinate is proceeded by the @ sign and is based on the last absolute coordinate. Coordinates can be entered in rectangular form (x, y) or polar notation (radius, angle). This is a SolidWorks Lesson Plan and Tutorial developed by Marie Planchard for use by Students, Eductors and Teachers for Instruction and Demonstration to reinforce Education of SolidWorks 3D CAD Mechanical Engineering Design Software. thanks a lot for clarifying,

SolidWorks is a 3D solid modeler. To be fair, it is a very good programme, however, it is not an industry standard in the 2D world. 2D programmes of any note to challenge AutoCAD is MicroStation (Bentley publishing) and this also pales in comparison. Also If you want complete compatibilty with AutoCAD, go with Autodesk Inventor. This is in the same league as SW and is actually better and easiler to use. My opinion..hope it clears things up.Ciao.

what is Solid Works exactly? it looks like a spin off of autocad but i don't see why you would need it since autocad can render 3d models too

Why are you copying AutoCAD. If I'm doing 2d, why would I use THIS if I've got AutoCAD. SolidWorks are you kidding me.....focus on your strong points which are slowly becoming fewer.
