For that matter ANY state can collapse, be it republic, monarchy, empire, oligarchy, or whatever else that has ever existed. Each has its own weakness which can be exploited somehow.

Of course any empire is doomed to collapse. Its because when the leader that established that empire dies their successors are bound to screw up sooner or later. That's what has happened to all the mighty empires.

If you look at the Roman Empire, the Mongol Empire, the Ottoman Empire and others you will see that an Empire which is only build on military power is doomed to collapse.

Ottoman "Empire"?They massacred those that couldn't fight back and ran from those who could all the way from East Asia to Iconium.Then they waited, bred like squatter rabbits in mud huts and let the Byzantine Empire degrade. Manzikert is the only victory Turks can be proud of, and even then, against mercenaries and rabble.They then proceed to oppress weakened peoples as far as they can be bothered, call it an "Empire", then lose to rebels throughout their sorry ass "state". Glorious!

Well try the Roman military was really powerful especially science they were the most advanced at their time. But i'm not sure if they would be able to hold up against mongolian cavalary archers. They would eventually win because of their military's size but they would most likely sustain heavy casualties. |
