I believe that targeting someone for a crime based on their political beliefs should count as a hate crime. My justification is that the spirit of the hate crime enhancement is to punish someone for intimidating others who also fall into that group. If you were a liberal and you found out that someone was killing liberals just because they were liberal, wouldn't you feel at least a little bit intimidated?

Manslaughter is a crime, but it doesn't require hate at all. Hell, involuntary manslaughter is accidental, so how could it be a hate crime?

I think that all crimes should just be crimes, race dosnt have to be a factor in a crime and there is no way to prove a persons motive in court, just the fact that they did or did not do the crime is whats handeled in court. hate crime is just another way of trying to force people into thinking that if you hit a person of a diffrent race that your racist, but thats not true in all cases, but it IS in some. I just think hate crime is a term that should have never been used.

Hate crime is a load of bullshit, if I go out and mug a black person I should be charged the same as if I had mugged a white person, And now if you want to bring political views into BULLSHIT people of diffrent belifes have been kicking eachothers ass since the begining of man.
