The program used in this video is Maya, I'm not sure how to do it in max, but if you can find where to create a material simply make a plane, and use an image as a texture for that plane.

We are creating a shooting game and need more people to help us, We need level designers , character modellers and programmers, so if you know how to use software like Maya and Darkbasic and want to be involved in making a game , drop me a message.

in any of the viewports, click the view -> Imageplane -> Import Image.Imageplanes sucks ass though, just create a plane for every ortographic reference and apply them to the planes instead, you'll have much better control over the references this way.Nice tutorial, but edgeflow and topology can always we rearranged afterwards. I just build all my stuff with a sense of proportions first without much thought about topology at that stage.

Great tutorial. Thanks. I have done just about done every head modeling tutorial and this approach is very well thought out.

thanks for the tutorial, i followed along and its much easier then the way i was taught with extruding a plane around the eye

wow...complicated stuff...you can see the way its all set up, but still complicated. Can you imagine the 'adding ear then hair' faze...omg

He is using Maya. I myself use XSI and have no problem following along. What he demonstrate is done the sameway in any 3d app.
