I understand what you mean for sure...but I don't really buy into the "damn pretentious hippies" or "greedy capitalists" stereotypes held by the opposing sides. Politically I'm a conservative Republican, and tend to be pro-business. However, I think that everyone has something to contribute, and I appreciate differences as they give some topography to life. If everyone saw things one way, then things would be pretty boring.

hey man i just happened upon her hammers song and liked it & clicked here to see what she's about. i had to turn it off at 2:42 so i could continue to like her music. she did come off a bit williamsburgish or bushwicky. sometimes you gotta be pretentious to sell to pretentious people. listening to her talk was like watching the first 10 minutes of juno. "specimen of a producer" and "grows a really great beard" hahahaa! i'll still bump her shit i just wont kick it with any of her fans.

I just wanted to acknowledge the great sense of decorum I have observed here with respect to my original comment that Thao seemed pretentious in this podcast. People called me on my comment, and with good reason, as I have come to learn. No one called me an asshole, no one called me a loser, no one suggested I perform a physically impossible act of coitus, people just posted their measured dissenting opinions, I listened, and came to change my mind, to some degree. Well done, people. Rock on!

99 times out of 100, I would agree with you. I've never before wanted to hear someone talk about their music...I just want them to shut up and record. This is the exception. Part of Thao's musical appeal is its distinctive crafting, and I'd like to hear anything she has to say.
