This is a small project I made in 3 days. For more on this gun, go to: http://www.spudfiles.com/forum... With new NiMH batteries I've found that I can shoot completely through a pop can with a blunt projectile. I think this may be the most efficient gun for its size that I've seen so far on the internet.

That's obvious. It's from a book that I think should be more popular than it is. I LIKE that the uploader chose that ID...but, maybe it came out wrong.

maybe the guy who uploaded this vid ...

lol okay, how many of you know what "fnord" is? Classic.

A Gauss Gun uses Magnetic or Electromagnetic (which is a lot more impressive) acceleration to fire a metallic projectile ;)

Okay can someone please explain what a gauss gun does exactly other than shoot?
mistamustard (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
The reason for the names is to differentiate the mechanism. A coil gun uses air core coils to electromagnetically accelerate a projectile. A rail gun uses parallel charged rails to exert a Lorentz force acceleration on a projectile. Lastly, a gauss gun uses a series of magnets to incrementally accelerate a series of objects so that inertial transfer delivers a big acceleration to the last in the line. And that's my free lesson of the day.

Nice one Fnord :)

learn to type, and also wikipedia isnt a very reliable source.
WorldOfHurt101 (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
The main 2 differences are the way the magnitism is created and the placement/shape of the magnets. Plus wikipedia is not really that relyable. There are some people in my school who just go on it and change random shit.

You are may be right. Or not. It would be unwise to argue. We can agree that railguns are totally different, and this is a coilgun. I have heard and read many explanations what is a Gauss gun. Wikipedia does not make difference between the two (Gauss redirects to coil), I have also read that they are basically the same, only different in some things (I admit, I didn't really understand what) and the one neodymium magnets. Till this day, I thought they are the same.
