Although Urdu and Hindi ARE almost identical languages the main difference is in the written. Urdu is written in perso-arabic script and Hindi in the devangari script of Sanskrit. Grammar is simialr but vocab can be different because urdu uses many more persian and arabic.Hindi's dialect is closer to sanskrit.Someone who speaks urdu would get the gist of Hindi conversation. Well, I guess that makes you the ass. I speak Urdu, french, ASL, cued speech, some Russian & Latin. So piss off.
