Some games run in "Full Screen" mode, where you can't see any other applications running. Most applications run in a window though. You can set the smartboard recorder to record everything in a window.

You'd have to run the game in "windowed" mode (as opposed to full screen) and then use a utility (like smartboard recorder) to capture your video. The sound should be included.
